Network Coverage

As a single integrated global network, services are fully managed from end-to-end. Offered on an unrivaled international scale, these include business intranet and Internet solutions, high performance remote access services over local fixed or dial-up lines, and many other Wide Area Network services, such as x.25, SNA, Frame Relay, and ATM.

• Nortel ATM switches provide the switching capacity through the Network's highest density traffic locations.
• The Equant Network consists of Nortel Passport ATM switches that provide high-speed connectivity directly to customers.
• The Passport switches are complemented by Nortel DPN-100 switches, providing customer connectivity to x.25 and SNA, as well as dial access.
• TCP/IP connectivity is provided by an overlay network of more than 19,000 Cisco routers, linked together using Nortel X.25 (in remote locations), Frame Relay and ATM.
• Dial access is provided directly into the Cisco routers or DPN-100 switches, both of which support PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) access. Direct access into the routers is offered, providing enhanced performance in some locations.

Equant's support experts attained Cisco Gold Certification in Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Japan, North America, Paraguay, Peru, Singapore, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Silver Certification in Mexico and New Zealand, as well as Channel Interface Processor, Voice Access and SNA/IP specialization certifications.

Equant is also a Cisco Professional Services subcontractor and Global Solution Services partner.

Equant's Voice for IP VPN (IP Telephony) service has the Cisco Powered Network designation.
