| Paris - October 6th, 2005 - At the annual World Communication Awards (WCA) held in London, October 3rd 2005, the France
Telecom Group won two awards: Best International Mobile Operator and the "Best New Service" title for
Business Everywhere solution |
| The awards are designed to recognise outstanding achievement at a global, national and local level, and are open to operators globally every year. |
| Business Everywhere, mobility solutions: "Best New Service" France Telecom's Business Everywhere was awarded "Best New Service". The judges said "At last, a dedicated business FMC service offered by a carrier. ... it's the remote desktop for real." Business Everywhere is the world's first integrated range of mobility solutions for business customers, who are frequently on the move. Wherever they are - on sales calls at customer or partner sites, in a public area or at home - employees can access securely their desktop environment from a laptop in a single click on a dedicated connection kit. The solution is totally transparent to the technology used, whether WiFi, ADSL, GPRS, Edge, 3G or PSTN.
"It is truly an honour to have won the 'Best New Service' award for Business Everywhere" said Barbara Dalibard, Executive Vice-President of France Telecom Enterprise Communications Services Division and Chief Executive Officer of Equant. "Business Everywhere is a key element of the NExT (New Experience in Telecom services) program. When we launched Business Everywhere in 2004, we knew it was a groundbreaking solution that only an integrated operator could offer to answer corporate mobility requirements. Business Everywhere demonstrates our commitment to give customers access to new convergent and innovative services with international coverage". |
| Orange "Best International Mobile Operator" In choosing Orange as the best international mobile operator, the judges said: "France Telecom is pushing the Orange brand name to the extreme, in Internet and business applications. But there's no other mobile brand you could do the same with. Orange is so solid, you cannot expect more."
Sanjiv Ahuja, CEO of Orange, said "This year, the judges were looking for the operator who has maintained its voice revenues while driving up data ARPU (average revenue per user) by evolving their businesses towards new value added data and multimedia services. They were looking for an operator with global expansion, service innovation, aggressive marketing, an emphasis on customer loyalty and relationship management, and strong brand development. In essence, what they were looking for was Orange. We met all these criteria and, what's more, these criteria reflect our own strategy for growth at the heart of the France Telecom group. This award shows that we are back on top and working successfully right across the business to deliver our vision of a bright future."
The World Communication Awards are widely acknowledged as among the most authoritative in the global communications industry. The judging panel is chaired by Kenneth Cukier of The Economist magazine, and includes eleven recognised industry analysts and experts. |
