Equant positioned in leader quadrant

Equant's position in Pan-European Communications Services Magic Quadrant is based on its vision and ability to execute

Paris - July 7, 2005 - Equant has been positioned in the leader quadrant in Gartner Inc.'s Magic Quadrant for Pan-European network service providers.

The Gartner "Magic Quadrant for Pan-European Network Service Providers, 2005" was written by Neil Rickard and Jean-Claude Delcroix, research directors of Gartner. This Magic Quadrant covers native and managed data services in Europe for large enterprises.

According to Gartner, vendors listed in the leader quadrant are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.

Equant was evaluated on its "vision" and "ability to execute," which reflect the following specific criteria:

  • Vision: business and financial strategy, innovation in products and services, market and sales strategy, operations strategy and strategic partnerships.
  • Ability to Execute: coverage, service portfolio, quality of products, pricing, customer focus (service and support) market position, "mind share" and current financials.

"We are honored to be recognized as a leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Pan-European Network Service Providers, 2005," said Axel Haentjens, senior vice president, Marketing and Communication, Equant. "Equant continues to expand its global, integrated and customized communications infrastructure solutions, to meet the evolving needs of multinational enterprises. We are now really seeing the benefit of being fully a part of the France Telecom Group, leveraging its strengths in innovative services, as well as its position in telecom services in Europe."

The Magic Quadrant is Gartner Inc.'s opinion and is an analytical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It measures vendors against Gartner defined criteria for a marketplace. The positioning of vendors within a Magic Quadrant is based on the complex interplay of many factors. Gartner does not advise enterprises to select only those firms in the "Leaders" quadrant. In some situations, firms in the Visionary, Challenger, or Niche Player quadrants may be the right matches for an enterprise's requirements. Well-informed vendor selection decisions should rely on more than a Magic Quadrant.
